The current generation of the GMC Sierra 1500 has been on sale since 2019. Now, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is here with a couple of enhancements like jackknife alert, trailer-length indicator, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The price of the Sierra 1500 starts at an MSRP of $31,795 for its Regular Cab, Long Bed 2WD model.
If you want the 4WD variant, it costs 36,395. Now, even though the 2021 Sierra 1500 remains mechanically unchanged, its trailering capabilities have gone up by 2,500 pounds for the base 2.7L motor. If you want to own a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 TurboDiesel, it now costs $1,500 less than before and also offers improved towing capacity by 1,900 pounds.

2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Engine: Power, Torque, and Transmission Options
The GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab will come standard with a 4.3-liter 6-cylinder engine that is said to generate 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The cab would provide a 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive as standard while AWD is offered optionally. However, for a price of $33,140, you can get yourself the other 5.3L V8 engine on offer.
It too has the same 6-speed automatic but makes 355 hp and 383 lb-ft torque. Considering the engines of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab, the cab stands out to be the most torquey among rivals such as the Ford F-150. Although, there stands a tough competition between GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The only factor that seems to be different is the price.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a lot more expensive than the Sierra 1500. Still, it is the Ford F-150 which costs the least and has the smallest 3.3-liter 6-cylinder motor that is the most powerful, sadly not as torquey. So when it comes to performance per dollar, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 leads the way.

2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Acceleration: 0-60 MPH and Quarter Mile Times
Being such a strong vehicle, the GMC Sierra 1500 is fast with both acceleration and braking. With a very impressive 0 to 60 mph time of 7.1 seconds, this light-duty truck is much faster than what most people expect, or require for that matter. It also goes past the quarter-mile marker in just 15.2 seconds The competition is, again, quite strict between GMC and Chevy.

Both these pickups are essentially the same underneath, sourcing power from a 285 hp six-cylinder motor. Hence, both Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 are tied in 0-60 mph sprints and quarter-mile runs. When it comes to towing and payload, both the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are overpowered by the Ford F-150. The trucks from GMC and Chevy have an impressive towing capacity of 7,900 pounds, while the Ford F-150, rated at 8200 pounds, can tow another 300 lbs more.

However, when it comes to in-cabin hauling, the Ford F-150 is again beaten by the Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500. Both offer a maximum payload capacity of 2280 pounds. In comparison to F-150's 1989 lbs payload capacity, that is 291 lbs more. But this solely results from the fact those GMC and Chevy trucks are about 20 inches longer and an inch wider than the Ford.
